There are some interesting conversations going on over at SharperIron concerning "vulgarity." They revolve around John MacArthur's article posted here.
Both the article and the discussion were fascinating. I totally agree that the "shock factor" is a defining characteristic of our generation. "If you can't say it crudely don't say it at all," is too often our motto. Unfortunately I've heard both Driscol and Miller's vulgarity defended as "artistic license." Absurd!
What I find even more interesting than the discussion of vulgarity is the fascination of young fundamentalists with Mark Driscol. He is undeniably interesting and usually theologically sound. But if I've said it once, I'll say it a thousand times: I am concerned with how many young people within our circles rally to defend the Millers, Driscols, and Kimballs, but won't hesitate to line up their own leaders in front of the firing squad. Let's be consistent in our criticism and our praise.
